Steve Hurny. Good lad he is, likes a drink although supports Liverpool so I will be avoiding him for the next week or two :-)

I only moved to Gloucestershire 10 years back so am still on the Wickerman Lists. Standard of football is surprisingly not too bad for what is really a Rugby area. Not as good as the Essex Senior and old Olympian leagues at the local level so I reckon even I might of got a few games back in the day ( Chumley Warner era ) :-)

Russ - they're not made of leather any more.

You're 35 years out of date, as far as the World Cup is concerned, possibly slightly less with other competitions

Re: Forest Green Rovers
Good luck to 'em, but they won't get my support as I'm Gloucester City.

Say what you want about their owner, but they've certainly landed on their feet with him in charge.

You don't have to go back too many seasons to before he became involved when they were perennial certs for relegation from the Conference and on their uppers financially.

They actually only survived in that league on a couple of occasions having been technically relegated on points and league position, only to be reprieved when those teams who won promotion from below were unable to take their position at the higher level due to facility and financial restraints

Up The City...

Re: Forest Green Rovers
Isn't their stadium in the middle of nowhere. Surely that will create greenhouse gasses and pollution with everyone driving to the ground instead of using the train

I'm up near Painswick. My neighbour was player, chairman and manager of Shortwood? and told me they do not like this Forrest Green investment as they were once fierce rivals :-)

Still should be a laugh if we get them in the Cup away.

Re: Forest Green Rovers
20 mins away from me. Their owner is prize one though or at least that is what the locals tell me. Dale Vince his name. Narcissistic apparently?. Ecotricity money paying league one wages to players and giving them free accommodation in Stroud in the Ecotricity office block.

Its all a marketing vehicle for him but should be fun while it lasts. :-)

Grew up in Glos, not far from there. Good to see them doing well.
Penners is right - dunno how fans are supposed to get there. Miles from Stroud train station, down winding roads and on the edge of a tiny town. Nailsworth is a nice little place though. Used to have a kickabout sometimes as a kid on the common above the town.

Wayne Hatswell once had the dubious 'accolade' of scoring the best own goal ever during an FA Cup match:

I'd give their food a go. Can't be any worse than the burger I ate at the game yesterday. Don't think I've digested it yet.
